Student Essay Samples - What Should Be Considered When Writing an Essay? The articles in this newsletter are written by Ap Lang, a Yale Teacher's College and a faculty member at the Yale Extension School, as part of her work for the New Rubric for Exams. Her purpose is to give general guidelines on how to go about preparing an essay.A combination of some of the four key elements is the essence of an essay. The most basic element is the theme, which forms the backbone of all the other elements. For each element, one must look at the topic and decide whether or not it is appropriate for your essay. In his research, YC's College students were asked what was the most important element in writing an essay. The answers ranged from the topic, to the style, to the structure, to the proper use of jargon and then lastly, the sentence structure. However, for YC's students, writing an essay had to do with communicating information and making an impact on the reader. Regardless of which component o f writing an essay is more important, it's still important to remember the first element of composition.College students who wanted to be successful in college should use a template when they write. The templates used by their faculty were called Homework Essay formats. These essays are usually reworked from a book, which makes them harder to customize. However, College students should be willing to rewrite their assignments from scratch. By doing so, they can truly express themselves in the words that are included in their assignments. The above statement by YC's College students brings us to the next concept, which is planning. While the students will eventually choose what material they want to include in their assignments, the assignment can still be difficult to complete if students don't plan the assignment ahead of time. This is because they need to decide what type of topic they would like to discuss. The assignment may also contain information that will be useful to other st udents.By the time you've finished reading this, college students should already have their essays completed. There are some important points to note about these articles, however. One point is that they are free and easy to read. You don't have to worry about words that the editors chose because they want to make the articles read well. Another thing that makes them easy to read is that you can type them up and then edit them right in your word processor or free word processing software. It's important to keep in mind that these articles that are part of the New Rubric for Exams are not standardized. In fact, a college or university assignment is supposed to reflect the research of the professor, but these articles are not necessarily written by the professor. It's much more effective to learn how to make an article that fits the academic standards of your college or university. This article is intended to be a guideline, however, so the advice given below can be altered by the stud ent and the professor.
